I was like a helpless deer in the forest with headlights shone into my eyes. I had no idea what to do. The attic window was too small to fit through and even if I could, it was a solid twenty metre drop and I would break every bone, if was jumped down. The zombie stopped for a second before locking eyes with me, before it lunged, teeth first. Without options, I prepared myself for the worst and clenched my eyes shut. Then I heard the most beautiful sound, machine gun shots followed by skull exploding. Still, I dared not open my eyes for a minute.
I heard a murmured human voice, seemingly sending a radio message. It was a male voice, deep. I couldn’t quite understand what he was saying, but something about securing the parameter. My heart felt like it was about to explode. Then I heard heavy footsteps come close and felt large hands in thick rubber gloves grab me by the face, turning it left and right as if to check for something. At least I wasn’t being bitten to pieces, I thought. I slowly opened my eyes, if whoever or whatever wanted me dead, I would be by now, I reasoned. The hands handling me like a ragdoll belonged to giant of a man, in a white hazmat suit, covered in zombie blood and guts.
